Fine Arts Summer Academy

 
FINE ARTS SUMMER ACADEMY
 
June 27 - July 1
 
Grades K-2 AND 3-5
 
The Fine Arts Summer Academy is available to students who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Track offerings include art, drama, dance, guitar, piano and drum circle. 
Students may attend a full day of camp (9:00 am - 4:00 pm) or select individual tracks. The week will culminate with a presentation/performance by each track for parents and friends on Friday at 4:00 pm.

     ART - Instructor: Linda Williams
                         Acrylics and Inks and Mud - OH MY!
Come join us for a fun filled week of experimenting with a variety of painting techniques with acrylic, watercolor, ink and mud!
Students will learn about folk artist/outside painter Jimmy Lee Sudduth and his sweet mud technique, Japanese sumi-e tripdych landscape painting, an optically interesting dual folded painting, as well as painting on a black background and modern art techniques.
One track tuition: $70 - 2 hrs/day, 5 days

DRAMA - Instructor: Darren Butler
Mr. Butler is well versed in all modern and classical acting methods.  From an early age, he teaches students how to develop a character, interpret scripts, improvisation and pantomime.  Acting styles are taught for stage and film.  Mr. Butler's students have gone on to regional, off-Broadway, national and international tours as well as film and commercials.
    One track tuition: $70 - 2 hrs/day, 5 days
 
 
 
GUITAR - Instructor: Emily Jones
Students will learn basic guitar techniques.  Emphasis will be placed on easy chords, strumming, beginning music reading, and singing while playing.  Song selections will come from the American folk music tradition.  Music will be provided.  Please note on the registration form if student does not already have a guitar. 
One track tuition: $50 - 1 hr/day, 5 days
 
 
 
DANCE - Instructor: Tara McClendon
Escape the summer heat with a cool jazz class with Ms. Tara.  Students will dance the day away so come join the fun!
One track tuition: $50 - 1 hr/day, 5 days
 
 
 
PIANO - Instructor: Glenda Briley
Music Makers at the Piano provides students with a fun introduction to the piano.  Emphasis will be on keyboard geography, developing listening skills and beginning rhythm and note reading.  Limit 5 students per track
One track tuition: $50 - 1 hr/day, 5 days
 
 
 
     DRUM CIRCLE - Instructor: Elizabeth Carter
Students will love building their musical skills and knowledge through rhythm activties on hand-drums and other percussion.  The drum circle offers a unique opportunity to participants for group music making.
      One track tuition: $50 - 1 hr/day, 5 days
 
 
 
TUITION FOR ALL DAY: $190
(2 - 2 hour tracks and 2 - 1 hour tracks)
